Ambassador Hovakimian attended the opening ceremony of the permanent exhibition “Crime without a Name” at the Theresienstadt Centre for Genocide Studies

On March 9, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian attended the solemn opening ceremony of the permanent exhibition "Crime without a name" of the Theresienstadt Centre for Genocide Studies, currently operating on the territory of the former Terezin concentration camp complex. The permanent exhibition focuses on explaining the legal concept of genocide and commemorating the story and courage of Raphael Lemkin, the author of the word genocide and the main initiator of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 9, 1948. It presents the key results of research in the field of genocide studies and describes the most significant cases of genocidal violence in the 20th century. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

The creation of the permanent exhibition “Crime without a Name” was financed by the Memory Agenda Support Program of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and under the patronage of the Ministry of Regional Development. The opening was attended by high-ranking Czech officials and Ambassadors from a number of countries.
