13 November, 2024

On November 13, at the Technical University of Prague, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian attended the opening ceremony of CLARA (Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing in System Brain Research) Center of Excellence.

The center's goal is to advance the frontiers of research and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and dementia, by processing large-scale multidimensional biological and clinical data using artificial intelligence, powerful supercomputers, and quantum methods.

CLARA is coordinated by the INDRC (International Research Center for Neurodegenerative Disorders) in Prague, in cooperation with four research institutes in the Czech Republic and scientific centers in France and Germany and funded by the European Union.

The key speaker of the opening ceremony was Dr. Ara S. Khachaturian, Chair of the CLARA’s Collegium of Experts and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of INDRC. Dr. Zaven Khachaturian, a Member of the Board, also participated in the discussions.

One day before the opening of the Center, on November 12, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian hosted the famous American Armenian scientists, accompanied by INDRC Executive Director Lenka Uldrijanová, at the Armenian Embassy in Prague.

Prospects of establishing cooperation between INDRC and scientific institutions of Armenia were discussed.
