A reception dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Croatia was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb

On October 7, a reception dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Croatia was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb.

The event was attended by the Director General of Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Irena Alajbeg, Director General of Political Affairs Petar Mihatov, Presidents of the City Councils of Dubrovnik and Biograd na Moru, Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Croatia, Members of the Croatian Sabor (National Assembly), representatives of the scientific, cultural, public circles, Armenian community of Croatia.

The national anthems of Armenia and Croatia were brilliantly performed by famous Croatian opera singers and accompanied by pianist Eva Kirchmayer-Bilić.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador to Croatia Ashot Hovakimian referred to Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, security agenda issues, as well as prospects for the development of Armenian-Croatian relations. The Director General of Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Irena Alajbeg in her address made a short overview on the Armenian-Croatian historical relations, highly praised the actively developing relations between Armenia and Croatia, and expressed her support for the expansion of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.

The speeches were followed by a beautiful program of Armenian and Croatian music. Prof,dr. Don Ivan Bodrožić and historian, armenologist Vinicije Lupis presented the book recently published in Split "St. Gregory of Narek. Instruction on the orthodox faith and virtuous and pure life". The translation from English was made by the famous Croatian writer and translator Mate Maras, who was also present at the reception.

In memory of Charles Aznavour, on the occasion of his 100th birthday, songs of the world-famous chansonnier were recorded during the evening.
