On February 28-29, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was on a working visit to Montenegro.

The Ambassador was received by the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, President of the Parliament Andrija Mandić, Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović, President of the City Council of Podgorica Jelena Borovinić Bojović, State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Milisav Raspopović, Chairperson of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants of the Parliament Duško Stjepović, General Director of the General Directorate for Bilateral Relations of the Foreign Ministry Aleksandar Drljević.

During the meetings, the Ambassador informed about the existing security situation in the South Caucasus and the efforts and approaches implemented by Armenia for the establishing peace and stability in the region, which are based on unequivocal respect for the principles of territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and sovereignty.

The possibilities of activating the political dialogue between Armenia and Montenegro, exchanging high-level visits, holding political consultations between the Foreign Ministries, and strengthening partnership ties between Yerevan and Podgorica were discussed. The prospect of cooperation in the fields of economy, high technologies, education, science, tourism, and security was especially emphasized. Montenegro, as an EU candidate country, is also interested in cooperating within the framework of European Union programs.

During the meetings in the Parliament of Montenegro, the necessity of revitalizing inter-parliamentary relations was emphasized, both in bilateral and international parliamentary platforms. The formation of the Montenegro-Armenia parliamentary friendship group in the newly elected Parliament is in the final stage. The Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro expressed his willingness to officially visit Armenia in the near future.

The Ambassador Hovakimian visited the Film Centre of Montenegro in Podgorica. The engagement of the Embassy in the three-day events of Sergey Parajanov's 100th anniversary, planned in Podgorica in September, which will be held jointly with the National Cinema Center of Armenia and Parajanov Museum, was discussed with the Center's Executive Director Aleksandra Božović. The meeting with the French Ambassador to Montenegro, Anne-Marie Maskay, was dedicated to the possibilities of joint holding of Charles Aznavour's 100th anniversary events in Montenegro.

In Cetinje, the old capital of Montenegro, the Ambassador participated in the cultural event organized for Ambassadors accredited to the country.
