Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was in Zagreb on a working visit

On November 17-21, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was in Zagreb on a working visit.

On November 17, the Ambassador had a meeting with the Chairman of the Croatia-Armenia Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Davor Ivo Stier and the members of the Group. In the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Ambassador was received by Petar Mihatov, Director-General for Political Affairs.

Ambassador provided updates on the security situation around Armenia, steps taken to normalize relations with Azerbaijan, efforts to unblock regional communication channels, and the activity and the importance of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia.

In the evening of the same day, under the auspices of the Ambassador of Armenia, the ceremonial closing of the personal exhibition of ceramics of Alina Gishyan, a talented Armenian artist living in Croatia, took place in the gallery of the Archaeological Museum of Zagreb. The exhibition was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Croatia, which will be celebrated in 2024.

On November 18, the Ambassador attended the founding session and welcomed the newly created Croatian-Armenian Society, which unites our compatriots living in Croatia and Croatian friends of Armenia.

On November 19, the Ambassador visited the NOVATEC company located in the town of Labin, which intends to start cooperation with Armenia in the field of mining automation.

On November 20, the Ambassador was received by the Advisor to the President of Croatia for Foreign and European policy, Ambassador Neven Pelicarić. Meetings were held with the Director of the Department of Eurasia and Oceania of the MFEA of Croatia Dunja Sičaja and the Director of Diplomatic Protocol Katarina Kirinić.

The Ambassador also visited in the center of Zagreb the Church of St. Blasius (Crkva sv. Blaža), the early 4th century Armenian bishop and martyr of Sebastia, who is known as the guardian of the city of Dubrovnik, and is also considered the co-guardian of Zagreb.

The Ambassador had meetings with the Dean of the diplomatic corps accredited to Croatia, the Apostolic Nuncio Giorgio Lingua, and a number of Ambassadors.

On November 21, the Ambassador attended the match between the national football teams of Croatia and Armenia.
