On September 25-26, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was on a working visit to Montenegro.

The Ambassador was received by the newly elected Mayor of Podgorica Olivera Injac, and the President of the Podgorica City Council Jelena Borovinić Bojović. During the meetings, the need to restore partnership relations between Yerevan and Podgorica (former Titograd) in all possible fields was noted on both sides, which will also serve as an impetus for the development of the bilateral agenda between the two friendly countries.

The Ambassador also had meetings with Marija Lakić-Barfus, Advisor on Foreign Policy to the President of Montenegro, Aleksandra Mišurović, General Director for Bilateral Relations of the Foreign Ministry, Dejan Vuković, Director General for Economic and Cultural Diplomacy, and Mirsad Bibović, Director of the Diplomatic Academy, several MPs of the newly elected Parliament.

The Ambassador briefed in detail all his Montenegrin interlocutors on the situation resulted from the large-scale military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 19 and the massive forced displacement of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and emphasized the importance of the appropriate international assessment in overcoming humanitarian challenges and preventing the use of force.
