Upon the invitation of Benjamina Karić, the Mayor of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian participated in the Sarajevo Day (April 6) celebrations and the ceremonial session of the Sarajevo City Council

On April 5-7, at the invitation of Benjamina Karić, the Mayor of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian participated in the Sarajevo Day (April 6) celebrations and the ceremonial session of the Sarajevo City Council.

On April 5, the Ambassador was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Brkić. Issues of development of bilateral relations, holding of political consultations, cooperation in international organizations were discussed. The Ambassador also met with Jasminka Ajanović, Director of the Central and Eastern Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the same day, the Ambassador was warmly received by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna (Sarajevo), Tomo Vukšić, who expressed his sympathy for the Armenian people, the Armenian church and culture.

On April 6, the Ambassador visited the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he was hosted by High Representative Christian Schmidt. Regional challenges, integration processes of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the EU were discussed.

On April 7, the Ambassador met with Kemal Ademović, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Sabina Ćudić, First Deputy Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Parliament. The Ambassador congratulated the interlocutors on the EU candidate status of Bosnia and Herzegovina, suggested establishing cooperation and direct contacts between the Parliaments of the two countries.

The Ambassador was received by the Mayor of Sarajevo Benjamina Karić, who noted with satisfaction the progress of relations, expressed readiness to establish cooperation between the capitals.

Regional security and peace issues were also discussed at all meetings. The Ambassador presented the situation, created in the region as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the details of the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor. The importance of implementing the decision by the International Court of Justice on February 22 was emphasized.
