The visit of Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian to the Republic of Slovenia

On January 30, at the invitation of the newly elected President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar and Prime Minister Robert Golob, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian with spouse attended the New Year's reception given in honor of the Heads of accredited diplomatic missions in Slovenia. The President and the Prime Minister presented the priorities of Slovenia's foreign policy, the most important of which is to be elected for a non-permanent seat on UN Security Council. During the reception, the Ambassador of Armenia had a short conversation with the President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar.

On January 31, the Ambassador Hovakimian was received at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia by Edvin Skrt, Acting Director-General of the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid, Mateja Norčič Štamcar, Acting Director-General of the Directorate for Political Affairs, and Sanja Štiglic, Acting Director-General of the Directorate for Multilateral Cooperation. During the meetings, several issues of Armenian-Slovenian relations in bilateral and multilateral formats were discussed. The Ambassador presented to the interlocutors the difficult humanitarian situation due to the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, the details of the violation of humanitarian law by Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of international responses and effective steps.

The Armenian Ambassador also had a meeting with Jože Colarič, President of the Management Board and General Director of KRKA, the largest pharmaceutical company in Slovenia.

On the same day, the first online meeting between the Groups of Friendship operating in the Parliaments of Slovenia and Armenia took place, which was joined in the Slovenian Parliament by the Ambassador A.Hovakimian.

On February 1, a trip to Planica was organized for the Heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Slovenia to learn about the achievements of Nordic skiing in Slovenia and the preparations for the World Ski Championship Planica 2023 to be held at the end of February - beginning of March.
