Working visit of Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian to Brno

On February 21, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was received by the Mayor of Brno Markéta Vaňková. The interlocutors referred to the agenda of democratic reforms in Armenia and the latest regional developments. Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian briefed the Mayor on the experience and further cooperation efforts in the field of education and culture with various institutions in Brno, among which the Brno Philharmonic and Masaryk University. The parties discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, high technologies and innovation. The Ambassador informed the Mayor of the presence of an Armenian community in Brno, welcoming the participation of the Armenian community in the municipality's initiatives related to national minorities.

On the same day, Ambassador A.Hovakimian was received by Břetislav Dančák, Vice-Rector of Masaryk University for Internationalization, with whom the agenda and existing experience of Armenian-Czech cooperation in the academic sphere, as well as the prospects for activating the interactions and exchanges between the Masaryk University and the Armenian universities and the possibilities for further developing the cooperation between the Embassy and the University, including joint endeavours, were discussed. Vice-Rector Dančák welcomed the Embassy's cooperation with the Center for Early Medieval Studies operating under the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University.

Within the framework of the visit, Ambassador A. Hovakimian also participated in the conference on “Re-Constructing Late Antique Armenia (2nd–8th Centuries CE): Historiography, Material Culture, Immaterial Heritage” convened by the Center for Early Medieval Studies on February 20-22 and held under the honorary auspices of the Embassy. Ambassador Hovakimian visited the Center for Early Medieval Studies, where, together with the Head of the Center Professor Ivan Folletti, the prospects for long-standing cooperation were discussed.
