Working meeting of Ambassador in Dubrovnik

On February 4, in Dubrovnik, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian was received by Nikola Dobroslavić, Governor (Župan) of the Dubrovnik-Neretva region of Croatia. Possibilities of decentralized cooperation, implementation of cultural and educational programs between Armenia and Dubrovnik-Neretva region, based on the deep historical and spiritual roots existing between the two peoples, were discussed.

During the meeting with the Mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Franković, the Deputy Mayor Jelka Tepšić, the Chairman of the City Council Marco Potrebica, the mutual satisfaction was expressed for the participation of the Armenian Ambassador in the festivities of St. Blaise, including the holding of a special event dedicated to Armenia. The discussions continued on the establishment of partnership relations between Dubrovnik and Gyumri, the visit of the delegation led by the Mayor of Dubrovnik to Armenia, and the expansion of cultural and educational cooperation.

At the University of Dubrovnik, the Ambassador was hosted by Marijana Pećarević, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Science, and Sanja Žaja Vrbica, Vice-Rector for Studies, who presented the history, structure, educational-scientific programs and future prospects of the University. The Ambassador's proposal to establish cooperation with Armenian universities was accepted with great enthusiasm, especially when the University has already submitted a joint project in the field of applied ecology within the framework of the Erasmus + program with the National Agrarian University of Armenia. Prospects for educational and scientific cooperation in the fields of history, art history, restoration of historical monuments were also considered.
