On January 19–20, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian paid a working visit to the Republic of Slovenia.

On January 19, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian and his wife attended the New Year's reception given to the Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited in Slovenia, by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, and Prime Minister Robert Golob.
On January 20, the Armenian Ambassador was received by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančić. Both sides highly assessed the developing relations between Armenia and Slovenia, and discussed the prospects for cooperation between the parliaments.
At the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, the Armenian Ambassador was received by the Director General for European Affairs Iztok Jarc, Director General for Political Affairs Mateja Norčič Štamcar, and Director of the Department for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia Andrea Purkart Martinez.
Numerous issues of the bilateral agenda were discussed; the Armenian Ambassador also presented to the interlocutors the developments in the South Caucasus, the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy in the context of peace established in the region, issues related to the Armenia–EU Strategic Partnership Agenda, as well as the preparatory work for the 8th Summit of the European Political Community and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Armenia in 2026.
During the visit, A.Hovakimian attended the reception by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized for Ambassadors accredited to Slovenia, as well as the briefing on the Slovenia's membership priorities in the UN Human Rights Council for 2026-2028, which was hosted by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Melita Gabrič.
The Ambassador visited the National and University Library of Slovenia, where he discussed with the Director General of the Library, Jana Kolar, the prospects of cooperation with the National Library of Armenia and Matenadaran. Ambassador also donated to the Library some publications on Armenia.
