Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian's working visit to Montenegro

On March 11-12, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was on a working visit to Montenegro. The Ambassador was received by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Periša Kastratović and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation Tatjana Ćalasan. Meetings were held with Irena Preljević, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Montenegro, Milica Perišić, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister, Ivana Đukanović, Director General of the General Directorate for Consular Affairs and Cooperation with Expatriates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ivana Šikmanović, Director General of the General Directorate for International Legal Affairs, and Savica Vujičić, Director General for Innovation and Smart Specialization of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
A broad agenda of bilateral relations was discussed: in particular, issues related to Montenegro's participation in the 8th Summit of the European Political Community and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Armenia this year; the schedule of bilateral high-level visits and political consultations; the legal framework between two countries was clarified; and consular and migration issues were discussed in detail.
The expansion of the Armenia-EU partnership and the best realization of the opportunities were emphasized, and the process of Montenegro's accession to the EU was considered as an important milestone for the future deepening of the Armenia-EU partnership.
The Ambassador presented the current regional developments to the interlocutors, also in the context of the positive dynamics taking place in the South Caucasus after the Washington agreements. The interlocutors touched upon the situation in the Middle East.
The procedure for the signing an intergovernmental agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Armenia and Montenegro on cooperation in the fields of education, science and innovation, as well as the prospects for the cooperation in the fields of creative education, innovations and start-ups, were discussed at the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
