12 December, 2025
On December 12, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Serbia Ashot Hovakimian, together with the Assistant Minister of Defence of Serbia for the Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, and the Chief of Staff of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence Dragan Mrdak, with the participation of the Honor Guard of the Air Force and Air Defence, laid a wreath at the Armenian khachkar in Zemun. The khachkar is dedicated to the memory of Serbian pilots who lost their lives while delivering humanitarian assistance to Armenia during the days of the 1988 Spitak earthquake.
During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the immortal memory of the Serbian pilots Vladimir Erčić, Predrag Marinković, Milenko Simić, Milan Mićić, Boriša Mosurović, Milisav Petrović, and Jovan Zisov. Family members of the fallen pilots, representatives of the Armenian community of Serbia, and friends of the Armenian people were present at the events.
The ceremony in Zemun was preceded by a meeting between Ambassador Hovakimian and Assistant Minister of Defence of Serbia for the Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, during which views were exchanged on the development of Armenian-Serbian cooperation in the field of defence. Ambassador Hovakimian also presented the Government of Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative and its key component, the TRIPP program, emphasizing their crucial importance for expanding regional connectivity.
