Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian participated in a ceremony in the village of Sázava of the Vysočina region

On May 8, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian participated in a ceremony in the village of Sázava of the Vysočina region, marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union and the Western Allies in World War II. The event was organized by the local government of Sázava and the URARTU Armenian-Czech Association.

Ambassador Hovakimian, Head of Sázava František Ledvinka, President of the URARTU association Aleksandr Sargsyan, and numerous Armenians residing in the Vysočina region laid wreaths and flowers at the grave of 18-years old Armenian soldier Arshavir Davidyan, who died in a local hospital at the end of World War II. They also paid tribute to the memory of Czech victims of the war. Ambassador Hovakimian delivered a speech, highlighting the significance of the day and expressing gratitude for the organization of the event.

On the same day, in the administrative center of Vysočina, Jihlava, Ambassador Hovakimian, Aleksandr Sargsyan, and members of the local Armenian community laid flowers at the “khachkar” (cross-stone) in Jihlava in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
