On March 17, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian paid a visit to the town and memorial of Lidice, where he was hosted by the Mayor of Lidice Veronika Kellerová and the Director of the Lidice Memorial Eduard Stehlík. The Ambassador highly praised the projects and initiatives implemented by the Lidice municipal authorities and the Memorial aimed at raising awareness about crimes against humanity and their further prevention. A.Hovakimian also presented the agenda pursued by the Republic of Armenia in the prevention of genocides and the initiatives undertaken by the latter on the international fora. The parties highly assessed the continuous participation of the schools from Armenia within the framework of the Lidice International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts and discussed the possibilities of further cooperation. The Ambassador laid a bouquet at the bronze sculpture symbolizing Peace and Motherhood, by the great Armenian sculptor Davit Yerevantsi, placed in front of the Lidice City Hall in 1986.
