Ambassador to Serbia Ashot Hovakimian was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković

On April 2, Ambassador to Serbia Ashot Hovakimian was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković. The interlocutors reaffirmed the imperative of strengthening and deepening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, discussed the prospects of activating political dialogue, organizing high-level visits, developing economic and cultural ties, and expanding cooperation in international organizations.

Highly appreciating the decision of the Serbian Government on the opening of the Embassy of Serbia in Yerevan, the Ambassador expressed hope that during the current year it will become possible for the Minister Selaković to pay an official visit to Armenia. The Ambassador also praised the efforts of the Serbian authorities in the fight against the COVID-19 and congratulated them on the significant achievements in the field of vaccination.

During the meeting, Ambassador presented in detail the facts and consequences of the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression against Artsakh, the steps undertaken to address the humanitarian crisis, the need to restore the NK peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. The Ambassador stressed the imperative of the immediate return of the Armenian prisoners of war, called on to condemn the facts of the destruction and falsification of the Armenian cultural heritage.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ambassador had also meetings with State Secretary Nemanja Starović, Assistant Minister for Multilateral Cooperation Aleksandar Tasić, Political Director Zoran Vujić and Director of the Russia and Eurasia Department Milan Milošević.
