Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was on a working visit to Montenegro

On October 22-24, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was on a working visit to Montenegro.

The Ambassador was received by the Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro Zdenka Popović, Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović, Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador held meetings with the Secretary General Adis Pepić, Acting General Director for European Affairs Snežana Radović and Acting General Director of the General Directorate for Bilateral Relations of the Foreign Ministry Aleksandar Drljević. The Ambassador's meetings with the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee Ivan Vuković and the members of the Montenegrin Parliament Jevrosima Pejović and Nikola Zirojević, who recently participated in Yerevan in the Tenth IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, took place in the Parliament.

Ambassador Hovakimian presented the security situation in the South Caucasus, the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Further activation and expansion of bilateral relations, developments in the South Caucasus and the Western Balkans, cooperation within the international platforms were discussed.

Thoughts were exchanged on the possibilities of intensifying the political dialogue between Armenia and Montenegro, exchanging high-level visits, holding political consultations between the Foreign Ministries, and strengthening partnership ties between Yerevan and Podgorica.

During the meetings in the Parliament of Montenegro, the necessity of invigorating inter-parliamentary relations and the final formation of the parliamentary friendship group between Montenegro and Armenia was stressed on both sides.

Taking into account the progress of Montenegro, as an EU candidate country, in the European Union accession negotiations, an agreement was reached to start cooperation within the framework of European Union programs, as well as to organize consultations and visits for the purpose of exchanging European integration experience.
